since we had so much fun with this relationship during the playoffs... why not stick with it during the ensuing season...

offensively they were mediocre for 3 quarters, and couldnt build a lead... then they went ice cold to start the 4th, and gstate hit everything. mcguire had a couple decent defensive possessions early in the 4th on melo, but for the most part it was dorell wright/open misses. you know the usual melo offensive possession... stutter step, stutter step, one dribble, pop. and it just wasnt falling. honestly, ish smith kept them in the game in the first half, and then brandon rush started to get rolling midway through the 3rd.
brandon rush looked solid, he had a nasty block in the 2nd on a landry fields dunk, and just had a nice day from there. he hit a 3 at the buzzer of the 3rd, that tied it up and gave them the momentum... he got to the rack a couple times too. they beat us up on the inside... chandler got in foul trouble, hes way too over aggressive and theyre quick to blow the whistle on him. im not all that thrilled with him right now, but its early yet. udoh impressed me, he was great defensively on amare. he also looked solid on a couple offensive possessions, but that was with balkman covering him... so meh to that. but defensively he was stifling amare. amare missed a ton of open jumpers early too, so that knocked his percentage down as well.
the problem is, theres no team play on this team... which is the product of not having a point guard. douglas dribbles down, and either takes a shitty floater, or just walks over and hands the ball to melo (more or less). and aside from that, its one pass and shoot. regardless of who that person is... even guys like balkman do it. which is another problem... the fact that balkman, josh harrellson, steve novak, mike bibby and other d leaguers of that ilk play meaningful minutes. on the offensive end, its either melo or amare... and 4 bums/streak shooters (douglas and walker in particular). meh, its another 1st round exit, unless baron davis is baron davis from gstate, and not fat baron davis. and chandler has to stay on the court. no depth, and no team play... even against boston, they were lucky melo shot stupidly.

the knicks do not belong on the same court with kobe bryant. on top of that... reggie miller calling out melo for fake hustle and fake defense is absolutely fantastic.
Who knows fake defense better. Reggie!
Next thing ya know...Webber will call him out for not realizing his potential.
