Is it too soon to think the Lakers may end up going to Secaucus, NJ, with two lottery picks - their own and the Mavs'?

I'm inclined to think that most of the time that would be a no call. (but let it be known that I do realize it was a travel)

    NBA officiating is terrible.

Lakers had the chance to put the Bulls away, but missed four straight free throws.

The same way it was "ok" for Bud Selig and the other owners of MLB to enforce "parity" on the league by manipulating incoming Dodgers owner Frank McCourt into backing out of signing Vladimir Guerrero only for Guerrero to sign with the Angels.

It may be remembered that when McCourt was still going through the vetting process he asked Selig if the other owners would react negatively if he consummated a high priced deal with free agent Vladimir Guerrero. Selig told him there would definitely be negative blowback, prompting McCourt to bow out of a deal that was nearly consummated and prompting Angel owner Arte Moreno to jump on Guerrero at the 11th hour.
edit: Yes, I know you don't care because you're partial to the Angels.

Sounds to me like McCourt had no balls. He asked Selig and then didn't do it based off speculation of what Selig thought the other owners might think. He should have signed the deal anyway, and if Selig nixed it somehow then it would compare to the Chris Paul thing.

How do you know Selig wouldn't have nixed it anyway? Since McCourt had not yet officially been approved as owner, I'm sure the league would have used that fact as its excuse as part of the cover up.

How do you know he would have?

We will never know because McCourt didn't have the balls to make the deal to find out.

Right, because the owner's club was running the vetting process for McCourt like they were the fucking Mafia. Sure, we'll let you in but you have to do things our way. Or else. I'd sooner trust McFuckhead to pick the next owner than John Moores or fucking Jeff Moorad and the rest of the small market owner cabal to.
