    Orioles Weiters' Debut Coming Soon

Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail announced that catching prospect Matt Wieters will be recalled to make his major league debut Friday against the Tigers.
"It's time," MacPhail said. "He's ready." The switch-hitting Wieters, who turns 23 next week, profiles as a middle of the order hitter and will take over as the regular catcher immediately. Ranked by many as the best prospect in baseball heading into the season, Wieters is currently hitting .285/.367/.482 at Triple-A Norfolk.
I can't wait to see this kid hit. Some scouts say that he could be better than Mauer but that was definitely before Joe turned the power on this season. It is time for Weiters to be apart of this team and could make the East just that much more difficult.

Wow. Wieters will be a fun one to watch play, and will probably be a key player for the Orioles for years. I'm sure everyone in Baltimore is excited...and I don't blame them.

This is great for my fantasy team! I had Price and Weiters taking up bench spots. Now hopefully they'll both kick some butt. Anything's better than Giovanny Soto right now, and hopefully Price cools off after the rough debut

Baltimore fans should have been excited the moment Dave Littlefield made the decision to draft Daniel Moskos instead, because Baltimore had no business getting Matt Wieters. None.

You guys have to be kidding me... he's batting .280 in AAA, he'll bat .260 this year in MLB, I'm not sold on the hype

He also battled injuries for the first part of the year. Believe the hype. He's a MLB hitter.

Weiters went 0-4 in his MLB debut striking out just once. The next night he went 2-4 with a run scored. Yesterday he went 0-3. Its just a matter of time before he breaks on through.
