    Braves Place Closer on DL

Rafael Soriano was placed on the DL tonight with right elbow tendinitis. The move is retroactive to April 7th, so Soriano will be eligible to return the earliest on April 23rd. Either Peter Moylan or Manny Acosta will absorb the closer role in the interm.

This turn of events causes Bobby Cox with some problems. He was planning on placing either Blaine Boyer or Chris Resop on the waiver wire to free up a roster spot, but now these arms become even more valuable.

Soriano has a history of elbow problems, as far back as from his days on the Marlins. Even this year in Spring Training, Soriano complained of elbow discomfort and didn't appear in a game until March 15th.

Oh well, he almost blew the game against the Mets anyways.
