Braves at the plate: Tony Pena drilled a three-run homer off Mets closer Billy Wagner to highlight a five-run seventh inning. Chris Woodward, Chipper Jones and Martin Prado each contributed a double.

Mets at the plate: Jose Valentin's fourth-inning, two-out RBI double produced the only run that Braves starter John Smoltz surrendered. Jose Reyes, who enjoyed a two-hit performance, David Wright and Moises Alou also doubled off the Braves ace.

Braves on the mound: Smoltz, who threw 57 of his 88 pitches for strikes, allowed one earned run, surrendered seven hits and registered five strikeouts in six innings. Mike Gonzalez provided a second straight scoreless appearance, allowing just one hit in the seventh.

Mets on the mound: Aaron Sele limited the Braves to two hits and an unearned run in five innings. Wagner surrendered five earned runs and four hits while completing the seventh inning.

Grapefruit League records: Mets 8-15-1; Braves 12-8-2.
