    MLB ERA
    4.40
    That is terrible news.

Tim Hudson pitched eight innings and surrendered two runs tonight in the Braves' rout of the Dodgers.
Hudson moved to 3-2 with a 2.85 ERA in seven starts since the All-Star break.

Rafael Furcal went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a walk tonight against the Dodgers.
With Marcus Giles going 0-for-5 behind him, Furcal only scored one of the Braves' 10 runs. Still, it was an excellent night for the shortstop

Jeff Francoeur hit a two-run homer, tripled and picked up his ninth outfield assist tonight against the Dodgers.
He threw out Odalis Perez trying to stretch a single. The triple was his first, the homer his 10th.

Kelly Johnson tripled, single, drove in three runs, walked twice and stole his first base tonight.
And he was still overshadowed by Jeff Francoeur. Johnson has been slumping since the All-Star break, but he remains the Braves' best option in left field and manager Bobby Cox shows no signs of giving up on him.

    -And rightfully so.

Mike Hampton was tagged for seven runs and 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings tonight in a loss to the Padres.
There was nothing wrong with Hampton's stuff, but the Padres jumped all over him in the fourth inning. He was replaced with three runs already in and Jim Brower gave up a three-run homer to Joe Randa, the first batter he faced. It's a good idea to keep Hampton active in NL-only leagues

Johnny Estrada (back) will not be activated on Sunday.
His back is still sore, and manager Bobby Cox said he probably needs to catch a couple of rehab games in the minors once he's ready to play

Braves designated RHP Jim Brower for assignment.
Brower had a 3.57 ERA in 22 2/3 IP for the Braves, but his 1.68 WHIP was more reflective of how he was pitching. It's possible that another team will pick him up

John Smoltz surrendered two runs in seven innings tonight in the Braves' 6-2 win over the Padres.
It was the club's first victory in six games against San Diego this season. Smoltz didn't get a decision, as the Braves scored five of their six runs in the bottom of the eighth. He hasn't won since July 31.

Jim Brower, DFA'd by the Braves yesterday, accepted an assignment to Triple-A Richmond.
In return for accepting the assignment, he figures to be a September callup

Triple-A Richmond's Andy Marte went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI yesterday.
Marte is batting .268/.368/.486 for Richmond. The Braves will recall him next month, but he probably won't be much more than a pinch-hitter. Aug. 22 - 2:42 pm et

Braves optioned catcher Brayan Pena to Triple-A Richmond.
If Eddie Perez still isn't ready, Pena will return as Atlanta's third catcher next month.

Braves activated catcher Johnny Estrada from the 15-day disabled list.
Estrada is playing tonight, but since he's not 100 percent, he's not going to get as many starts as usual. Brad McCann should continue to have value in NL-only leagues

I think rotoworld is on drugs..BRAD!!??

Chipper Jones hit two-run homers off Carlos Zambrano in the fourth and Kerry Wood in the ninth to give the Braves a 4-2 win over the Cubs tonight.
It was Jones' first multihomer game since Aug. 25, 2004 and the 31st of his career. Chipper is batting .455 with five homers, six doubles, 17 RBI and 10 walks in 44 at-bats this month.

    Guess who's back..back again..Chipper's back...tell some men.
