They need help more than the Bravos do, man.

Braves placed LHP Mike Hampton on the 15-day disabled list with a back injury.
This has gotten ridiculous. Jorge Sosa will start in Hampton's place tomorrow against the Cubs and likely at least once more. Perhaps it's time to give up on Hampton for the rest of the season.

Sad, I was hoping Smoltz-Hampton-Hudson would be the best 1-2-3 in the majors. Hudson has been inconsistent, Hampton injured.

John Thomson was tagged for five runs in 3 2/3 innings tonight in a loss to the Cubs.
Thomson gave four runs in third. He was pulled with one on and two outs in the third and that runner came around to score off Joey Devine, who loaded the bases and gave up a grand slam. While Thomson was pretty unlucky during the third inning, manager Bobby Cox wouldn't have pulled him so quickly if he thought he was throwing well. Unfortunately, it looks like Thomson has to benched in NL-only leagues.

Jorge Sosa will start for the Braves today.
Since Mike Hampton is back on the DL, Sosa may have value the rest of the way for the Braves.

FINALLY! Now call up Davies, damnit.

Braves recalled LHP Macay McBride from Triple-A Richmond.
He takes Mike Hampton's roster spot. McBride allowed four earned runs in six innings during his first stint with the Braves. He'll likely spend the rest of the season in the majors, but he shouldn't have any fantasy value

Mike Hampton, who was placed on the DL after Tuesday's game, has been told to rest three to five days after an MRI showed he has a herniated disc.
Hampton was given an epidural injection. He still figures to attempt a return in a couple of weeks, but the Braves have to be wondering whether they'll get anything more from him this year.

Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-3 and walked unintentionally for the first time yesterday.
Francoeur had walked once intentionally in 133 at-bats as a major leaguer. The 21-year-old entered the day in his first brief slump as a major leaguer, going 0-for-9 the previous three games. His second hit today was a bunt single to get the seventh going. He said after the game that it was his first bunt attempt since he suffered a fractured cheekbone on one last year.

After entering in the eighth, Kyle Farnsworth was left in to pitch the ninth in a 3-1 game yesterday and picked up his first save as a member of the Braves.
Farnsworth gave up a hit after entering with two outs in the eighth and he walked Corey Patterson in the ninth, but he struck out three of the other four batters he faced. This doesn't necessarily make him the Braves' closer, but it looks like Bobby Cox is open to using a committee.

    Braves

They should just pick someone...it seems pitchers do better when they know what their role is (closer, set up, mop up, starter)
