Braves Braves to keep Wick for 2007

Hence me asking for a Wickman sig (please!).

Braves agreed to terms with RHP Bob Wickman on a one-year contract extension through 2007.
Wickman, who is 15 of 16 in save chances since being acquired in July, will remain Atlanta's closer into 2007. There was little doubt that the Braves were going to keep Wickman or ink a similar veteran to a one-year deal as they continue to evaluate whether Joey Devine or any of the club's other young pitchers will develop into a closer of the future. If Wickman is settling for $3.5 million-$4 million or so, there was little harm in re-signing him.

Not a bad move. Wickman will never win an ERA title, but he does the job pretty well. His saves are not pretty, but they are usually successful.
Now, the Braves can work the rest of the pen to improve it.

    In Arlington anyway.
