D'Backs David Wells might reinstate Trade demand...Arizona possible destination?

Although the Sox are willing to entertain offers for three starters -- David Wells, Matt Clement, or Bronson Arroyo -- the most likely pitcher to be dealt looks like Wells, who made a to-do about rescinding his trade request two weeks ago but has no control over whether the Sox deal him. Given his age (43 in May), uncertain health, and attractiveness on the market -- Texas and Arizona had scouts present for his appearance in a minor league intrasquad game Thursday -- he could be the one to go. Clement, who has a price tag ($9.5 million) that scares potential suitors, is having an outstanding spring and is an innings-eater, and Arroyo has value as a starter and reliever.

I didn't realize Arizona was interested in David Wells, but I guess it makes sense. They are a bit shallow in SPs.

Why would Arizona be intrested in Wells after he screwed them over to sign with the Yanks a couple years back?

I mean, I doubt it will happen now with the Arroyo deal done, but that just doesn't make sense to me.

why would the Padres want Wells after he screwed them last year?

It's all about the here and now.

But yeah, I doubt this will happen as well, after the Arroyo deal

I still wonder if the BoSox are going to keep Wells and Clement.

I think they will. My guess is that they may try and trade one of those two again when Papelbon gets settled in and is ready to start, but they have their rotation set with both in. With the Sox, no one knows what will happen, may as well have depth for when Clement is hit in the head with a bag of peanuts.
