The Diamondback started the year red hot and many declared them the best team in the National League. Since then they have cooled off a bit and other teams have caught up to them in the win column. The question is, are they still the top team in the league? I would say yes, as a team I think no other club plays better together than the Diamondbacks. They have also just gotten Doug Davis back which can only help. Come September I still expect them to go deep into the playoffs if not win the whole thing. Do you? or did you ever?

the Rays are better than the D-backs right now. both have dominant pitching, but the hitting edge goes to the Rays right now

The Cubs and Dbacks are neck and neck right now.

I would agree with that LtR, they are the Diamondbacks biggest competition atop the N.L. at the moment. They are very different clubs though, with the veteran Cubs and the young Dbacks. I would almost give the edge to the Cubs, as they are naturally more likely to be hungry for a ring. Also being the Cubs though, they are never going to win one either.

It's a long season. Teams go through ups and downs like this. I fully expect them to be playing for a chance to go to the World Series. As long as their pitching stays healthy, I can't imagine them not going deep. Good pitching almost always beats good hitting in the long run and especially in the playoffs. I would expect them to make any necessary moves at the trade deadline as well. They made the Haren trade with the full expecation of going to the playoffs and going deep into the playoffs.
