    A's LaRoche DFA'd

    A's designated 3B Andy LaRoche for assignment.
    The A's gave him a chance at significant playing time at the hot corner, but LaRoche responded with just a .247/.320/.333 batting line with no homers over 93 at-bats. His bench spot will eventually be taken by Adam Rosales (foot), who is due back soon. LaRoche has a good chance of clearing waivers and remaining in the organization.
    LaRoche was actually playing better than his career numbers but his defense is still horrible. I don't see anyone claiming him but he might elect to be a free agent. It still amazes me that he was the "prize" of the Jason Bay deal for the Pirates.

    Even if LaRoche became the Pirates' 3B for the next six years, it was worth that amazing half season by Manny. The fact that LaRoche was a bust instead made the deal even better.

    I think we win cause we got draft picks for Bay that haven't busted yet?
