The Dodgers won the negotiating rights to Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu with a $25,737,737.33 bid, MLB has announced. It's the largest bid ever for a South Korean player, and Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says (on Twitter) that there was at least one more bid in the $20MM range.

Welp...at least this time there wasn't a huge disparity of opinion on the price, unlike the case of Yasiel Puig being worth just $500,000 according to one other team.

Scott Baker signed a 1-year, $5.5MM deal that, with incentives, could be worth $7MM. Good deal for him, but I'm not sure Wrigley is the best place for a "flyball" pitcher to try to re-establish himself.

LaRoche, Swisher, and Kuroda were stupid not to take them. IMO. We shall see what they get on the open market.

I don't know about LaRoche. He just came off a somewhat underrated and overshadowed monster season and might make bank.

I agree with Swisher and definitely Kuroda.

If Kyle Lohse and Brian fucking Wilson are our headline offseason signings, I'm going to set myself on fire outside Ned Colletti's office in enraged protest.

The Rangers outbidding the Dodgers for the best pitcher on the free agent market? Sounds familiar.

Damn. I would've liked to have back the only closer for the Dodgers who didn't make me want to smash my TV every time he pitched.
