realmofotalk does not like Jason Repko. I want him to make the team.

Sources: Dodgers avoid arbitration with Repko — 9:33 a.m.

The Dodgers have avoided salary arbitration with Jason Repko, multiple sources said, agreeing to terms with the outfielder on a one-year, $500,000 contract.

Repko, 29, spent most of last season at Class AAA Albuquerque. He was a September call-up for the Dodgers, appearing in 10 games and going hitless in five at-bats.

Repko has had only 27 plate appearances with the Dodgers since 2007, largely because of injuries. He last played regularly in the majors in 2006.

With the departure of Juan Pierre, however, Repko should compete with Xavier Paul this year to become the Dodgers’ fourth outfielder. - Jon Paul Morosi

Xavier Paul isn't a bad option for a bench outfielder. He's a poor man's Matt Kemp, scouting-wise. In fact Paul was drafted earlier than Kemp was. It's just that Kemp, because he's bigger, stronger, and more athletic, was better equipped to develop enough power to offset poor strike-zone discipline.

Repko has been waived. Good riddance to the Franchise Killer.

Unlike Stults, I have no problem with seeing the end of the Jason Repko era. I mean, when you think of Repko’s time with the Dodgers, what stands out? Was it the 301 plate appearances he received on the dreadful 2005 team, with which he put up a line of .221/.281/.384 – and then somehow turned that into an Opening Day start in 2006? Or the time he ruined Rafael Furcal’s 2007 season by diving through his ankle (shown at right) and then later in the same game, blew out his hamstring and missed the whole season?

Or maybe it’s the more-talented outfielders who were let go due to roster crunches while Repko somehow just kept on surviving - guys like Jayson Werth, Delwyn Young, Shane Victorino, and Cody Ross?

The ultimate slap in the face to Repko: keeping gimpy-legged Garret Anderson over him.

The Twins picked him up. J.J. Hardy and the O-Dawg better pray they don't get RepKO'd on a play.
