Thinking about it, it makes sense for them to have a part timer do it. Could you imagine the pressure on a full-time, young guy to carry around the weight of being the guy who ended the streak, especially if they don't wind up being a superstar?
I can see both sides of the argument. I guess it's a no-win situation. I just don't really care for Lesnar. And since it was no-win situation, then just have Taker retire with the streak intact. Have his retirement (losing match) at Summerslam.
Bryan winning was the right call in the situation. Cena winning was not. What does he gain from that? Bray stands to lose more than Cena stands to gain. So pointless.
It's CENA. Does he ever not win?
The only thing I can think of is that winning keeps the streak in tact and therefore keeps the pressure for him to keep going, both from himself as well as others, strong.
By losing he removes a huge portion of that pressure to keep wrestling and allows him to really retire.
That being said, I can buy an argument that retiring with it in tact could have been the better decision.
that was probably the only other match besides taker i was 100% sure of
At Vengeance 2003, I suppose he did.
But that was before SuperCena, anyway.
I guess the world may never know. I'm sure it was all his choice as you and others have said. The whole thing just seemed anti-climactic the way it all went down. All that build up of the streak without much of a pay-off.
JMHO, keep the streak and lose a buried alive/retirement match at Summerslam.
So wait, are we gonna get Bryan -v- Cesaro for the ROH Championship now? Thats the next step, right?
:wat:
that'd be awesome. I may actually start watching again.
neither Batista nor Orton should turn face, nor would the fans really let them I imagine.
Bryan/Orton and Bryan/Bray make the most sense for the next two months. Lesnar/Bryan seems like money for Summerslam, unless they really want to have the belt on Big Dave for his movie release by then.
I think they're gonna continue Cena/Bray. This has been the most entertainment I've had with Cena since Nexus showed up.
