20-game wins vulture Roy Oswalt isn't on the list? I believe the 7 earned runs he gave up to L.A. had something to do with that.
I vote for the greatest single season 6-inning starting pitcher, Clemens.
Letting Pettitte go is probably Steinbrenner's biggest mistake (among many). He noses out Carpenter for the Cy.

If you could give me any of those years on a team, I'll take Clemens. My offense would have to be unlucky and bad to lose a lot of those games. Well, same with Carp, but I'll still take Roger.

How low would an ERA need to be for the voters to discount the wins total since obviously ERA is a more efficent tool in measuring the effectiveness of a pitcher. We'll all find out soon enough I suppose. Does anyone know the biggest ERA difference in which a pitcher with the lower did not win the Cy Young? Someone should look into that.

3. Carpenter (Although he could be flip-flopped for Pettitte, it's close.)

Clemens ERA is insane and someone said he is the best 6 inning pitcher and I agree. But I will take a better overall pitcher everyday of the week who can get his team the win. Maybe if he could go deeper in a game his win/loss record would be better. I will go with the better all around 8 inning pitchers with Willis or Carpenter. Randy Johnson was robbed last year by Clemens so maybe I am biased. Clemens shouldn't win for the same reason Randy didn't win.
I was torn between Carpenter and Clemens, but looking at the stats Clemens is just generally better. If Carpenter wins it, I won't be dissappointed at all.
Don't think for a second that the playoff performances of Carpenter and Clemens won't factor into the voters minds because they will. So far Carpenter is 1 - 0 with 6 shutout innings and Clemens has already given up 5 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings.
