The S3F Underrated Team: First Basemen

OK, it went well the first time with a nice amount of votes and we got our first member of the team, Bengie Molina from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Here are the contestants for first base (as always, others can be suggested)

    Chris Shelton (DET)
    Dan Johnson (OAK)
    Matt Stairs (KC)
    Tony Clark (ARI)
    Nick Johnson (WAS)
    Chad Tracy (ARI)
    Mark Sweeney (SD)
    Olmedo Saenz (LAD)
    Other (???)

This poll will be open for a few days.

I'd say Adam Laroche (he hits 20 homers in a platoon role not to mention he's the best fielding 1B in the league, bar none)...but given the choices, I'll say Nick Johnson, who's a walk machine.

Get Saenz off that list. Saenz is like Kevin Millar of 2 seasons ago.

I don't feel like it, that would require me to edit multiple posts.

I voted for Johnson because I'm such a homer.

I would have voted for Johnson, but he's doing what he's supposed to. I mean, the guy was the PCL AAA league MVP last year and was well on his way to winning it this year before he got called up.

I went with Tony the Tiger because he is having a super come back year giving AZ more than they expected. Plus he got snubbed in the MLB come back player of the year voting as he's not even an option

No one even knows who Chris Shelton is, so him.

Yeah, I was gonna vote Shelton too. Then I remembered the year Tony Clark had in '04.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Nick Johnson gets it. I'm not sure why you have Mark Sweeney on there, though. While his primary position is 1B, he still only has 108 at-bats there this year.

I'd liek to see what Tracy and Clark's numbers would be if they played every day. I voted Tracy anyways, cause his numbers are pretty nice.

He's hitting around .250 and walks once every 3-4 weeks. That's not underrated. That's just being an average to worse 1st baseman.

Yeah, but Mark Sweeney isn't really rated at all. He's a bench player having a good year.

    So is Tony Clark.
