    I'm not saying I would have pegged them to be World Series winners, but you're making it sound like it's the Astros suddenly in first place out of nowhere. 8 games over .500 doesn't shock me much with their roster.

    After 13 years of mediocrity, expectations were low.

    From a jaded fan's perspective, sure.

    The Padres could probably field a roster of 25 hall of famers and Padres fans would still think we're going to miss the playoffs for the same reason.

    But from an outsider looking in I didn't think the Mariners were going to be that bad.
