Attention! 2014 Mid-Season AL Rookie of the Year

It's that time again.. well.. wait, did I do this last season? Well, anyways, mid season award time! And then we do this again at the end of the year to see how drastic or not, things changed.

I realize there are those that don't believe Tanaka or Abreu deserve to qualify as rookies as they are not traditional. But, MLB identifies them as rookies and that's plenty good enough for me. You don't need to vote for either if you feel that strongly. The AL is stacked with candidates, and the crazy thing is, Tanaka is a Cy Young candidate and Jose Abreu is an MVP candidate. And then, in any typical year, you have George Springer, Yordano Ventura, Xander Bogaerts, and so forth.

Yeah, I voted for Springer for that reason... but Tanaka is the guy of those who "qualify", I'd say. Although Abreu is fun to watch. Hope he learns more patience at the plate, if he does that, he will be unreal.

Because he qualifies it's easily Tanaka...however, it's easily Tanaka because he's not really a rookie and is only designated as one by sheer technicality. So my vote goes to Springer.

The rules are the rules and therefore Tanaka gets it. Sure beats when Angel fucking Berroa won RotY over Matsui.

I went with Tanaka, cause he's more than lived up to the hype and is the closest challenger to King Felix for the Cy Young. Without him, NYY is fighting Tampa for last place.

But this group is crazy and George Springer, lofty strikeout rates aside, is incredible.

    Tanaka

He qualifies under the rules, besides rules or no rules, trying to fit in, live up to the expectations, he has pitched flat out pitched, what like ALL of his starts have been quality, or almost all, even vets have hard time doing that in any year.

If I were an official voter I would vote for Tanaka because I don't believe in overriding existing rules to push my personal opinion when I'm tasked with voting under an official set of criteria.

But, since my vote on a random internet poll means jack shit I have no problem voting under the guise of what the rules should be.

I'm not sure if that was meant as a retort to me or just a general statement, or both

Kind of both. You may not have intended it that way but the post basically sounded like a complete dismissal of voting against Tanaka for those purposes and I was explaining why I will vote against him for those purposes.

I was explaining why I was voting the way I did. As you alluded to, it's a random poll on a random board so it's rather irrelephant.
