he... using verlander as the example... impacts more than that. without him, now scherzer has to face the sabathias, weavers, becketts. then porcello would have to face the lesters, harens... burnetts?... and so on and so forth down the line.

If a every day player DH can't win a MVP "because he doesn't play defense" then a pitcher should never win a MVP "because he doesn't play offense."
Jacoby just won the MVP
lol, no he didn't.
3 HR's in 2 games his team needed to win, 1 being the 3 run HR in the top of the 14th? I'm not sure what else your looking for... guy is a 30/30 guy with above average defense in the clutch... with all due respect to the other candidates he's definitely the one
Clutch hitting in two games doesn't earn an MVP award.
Just about everyone on the poll has better numbers than Ellsbury.
With all due respect, they lost to AJ Burnett in the first double header.
Red Sox made him look like CY Burnett.
Thanks to the Evil Nation, my favorite comedy of the week was cancelled.
I can only hope! Life isn't the same without a Burnett blow up.
Ellsbury is a good candidate as well so don't pile on cjkalt. He plays great defense, steals bases, hits for power, creates runs, etc. All more valuable than a pitcher throwing every 5th day.
hes not in the top 5
