Attention! Who is the 2011 AL Rookie of the Year

We'll kick things off with the rookies and work our way up.

When we were at the all-star break, I think we mostly all could agree that Michael Pineda had this locked up. But then the second half came, Seattle was contracted from the big leagues and now we are left with his remains... and the large large Mark Trumbo and Jeremy Hellickson. We had a slew of awesome young talent hit late, including Pineda's teammate on said dead team Dustin Ackley. Then there is Brett Lawrie. And Josh Reddick. And finally, and perhaps the most tantalizing, Desmond Jennings. For sake of fairness, I have to leave them off, they just don't have enough of a sample size.

    Onward, kids.

Without Nova stepping out in the rotation the Yankees would be looking up at the Red Sox and Rays

It was a tie for me between Pineda and Trumbo but voted Trumbo. The rookie leads his team in HR and RBI and the Angels wouldn't even be in the West race without him. If Hosmer has been called up a tad sooner, I would vote for him. A lot of good rookies to choose from.

Solid outing in a big game for Hellickson. Boom.

Homer I may be.. But Nova has really been huge for the rotation this year.

I understand there are some great candidates out and I'm not saying Nova should get the award; but I do feel like Nova should be getting more credit for the role he has played this season.

Compared to the NL, this is a much better race.

I think Hellickson locked it up a while ago, though.

Only because Kimbrel locked it up months ago.

True on both points. How about this...

The AL crop of rookies is much deeper than the NL.

Think thats what I was going for.
