Exactly how I thought about it, and exactly what I think of Kent. I couldn't have put it better myself in such few words.

Because I interpreted the question to be what WILL happen, not what SHOULD happen
Looks like its 12-4 so far Kent gets in:) Very comforting there are some smart baseball guys on here.
There are 12 HOFer with more strikeouts than Kent and more that will get in one day, one being Craig Biggio. Kent is top ten in important stats like hits, OPS, HRS, Runs, RBI and doubles.
Kent was an elite second baseman and to deny that is simply inexcusable.
See you in the Hall Jeff!!
Look at who Kent could possibly be up against in the HOF voting that year. Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Pudge Rodriguez. That's all I was trying to convey by giving that option. If a guy is a HOFer, it shouldn't matter I agree. But you have to put things in context.
Are you limited as to the number of players you can vote for? (Honest question, I truly don't know)
If you aren't, why can't you just vote for Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Pudge Rodriguez, and Jeff Kent all on the same ballot?
There is no official limit but very few voters vote for more than 3, and a lot only vote for 2 per class, even if there is no rule
That's not true. Tim Kurkjian voted for 8 guys this past ballot, and that's not too uncommon (no matter how much I hate it)
Its very difficult to get three people in on one ballot. I think it has happened just once in the past 20 years. It can happen but its very hard.
I agree and you will never get an argument from me saying otherwise. But guys who never played the game have all the power. Sad really.
Whoops, didn't delete in time.
Any rate, that truly is sad.
It wouldn't bother me as much if they didn't carry such dumbass principals like never voting for someone on a 1st ballot, making a distinction between 1st ballot and otherwise, voting for someone just because it's their final ballot when they never voted for them before, and not voting for more than a set number of players.
you can vote for 10 if you want. you cannot vote for 11.
