    If 300, 500 and 755 happens...

tonight, will that be the most memorable night of baseball for your life? This isn't counting your team winning the world series or something bias to that effect. Basically, would you talk about July 31st, 2007 to your grandchildren as a day you wouldn't ever forget. Of course if it happens, it would be a once in a lifetime type of thing, but the question has to do with the lasting memory it would have on you.

We have surefire Hall of Famer Tom Glavine gunning for win #300 against the Brewers. He will be the 23rd pitcher to hit 300, a feat that is becoming harder and harder to reach and Glavine could be among the last that we will see in our lifetime.

Alex Rodriguez will be seeking his 500th, to become the youngest to join that club and the 22nd overall. Rodriguez hitting 500 might not be as important to some since we have seen so many reach 500 in recent years, but for someone who has a legit shot at the homerun record, this is a memorable milestone of course.

And Barry Bonds getting to 755, enough said.

It's improbable that it all happens, but if it does, it would be something else.

Hell yea, how often would you ever get to see a player break or tie the all time HR record, another player go after 500, and a great pitcher go after 300 wins? Not often! There should be a vbookie on this!

I would like to see Glavine get to 300 but the rest I couldn't care less about.

Yes because the record of all records will be tied and Glavine will be the last person to get 300 wins for a long, long, long time.

Yep, unless a guy who is a workhorse and can handle it gets on a team that goes with a 4 man for a few years, with how quickly pitchers are pulled for relievers these days, 300 by Glavine is going to be one to remember. Expecting not only the durability to get to 300, but playing for a winning team often enough that they give you the W's you expect often and then you need a manager who is confident in the ability and durability to let that pitcher go another inning or whatever to lock up a W.

I am not a big believer in the W-L column showing the true worth of a player, but for a guy like Glavine it's a testament for how long he has been in this game and how good he has been for the majority of his career.

Believer in the W-L column or not, 300 is a powerful number. No one is even on track to sniff 300.

Well of course it is. My point is that usually W-L records don't mean much, especially on a season to season basis, but 300 means a damn great pitcher, a legend.

And Randy Johnson would likely be at 300 or as close as Glavine had it not been for the injuries. I think he was at 282 at last check IIRC.

I think they said he needed 17 wins to put him at 300.

Well, with the Brewers playing spoilers (Bill Hall in particular, Reds fans can relate to that), Glavine has to wait until his turn in the rotation to try again for 300.

Rodriguez went for 500 tonight in a game that the Yankees hit 8 (yes, 8) homeruns but Rodriguez didn't get one to his name.

Bonds is still going but through two AB's, the record still belongs to Aaron alone.
