Re: Should the MLB Draft be on TV?
I like that it's televised, actually.
I just went on a bit of a tangent in that initial post after reading about Matt Latos (11th round pick) demanding 3.5 mil per.

Re: Should the MLB Draft be on TV?
Latos was a draft-and-follow guy, right? I heard he wanted to break the record for a guy like that, but he's not as good as the record holder was. No reason for the Pads to give in. I think LaPorta wanted the same deal as a DaF player from the Sox.

I'm not familiar with the term "draft and follow"
I don't follow college baseball or the minors that much.
What does that mean?

Re: Should the MLB Draft be on TV?
A good explanation is from an article on how it affects Cubs prospects
With a change in MLB Rule 4, this is the last year that MLB clubs will be able to sign the so-called “Draft and Follow” (D+F) player. A “Draft and Follow” is a player selected by a club in the previous June Draft who does not sign before enrolling or re-enrolling in college, but who is eligible for selection in the next June Draft. This would be any player who enrolls or re-enrolls in a junior college, or any player who has completed three years of eligibility at a four-year college, or any player who is 21 prior to the draft.
The only players who are ineligible as a “Draft and Follow” are high school players who enroll in a four-year college (they are “off-limits” for two years), or JC players who transfer to a four-year school after their freshman year (they is “off-limits” for one year), or any player whose college team (JC or four-year school) is still active in post-season play as of ten days prior to the June Draft.
I think that also applies to Independent Leaguers as well, and I heard that the practice was going to be ended with the new CBA, so this is the last year of it. Typically this tactic is used outside the Top 10 rounds or so, since you don't want to waste a pick that high on someone that may not perform well enough to get signed.

Re: Should the MLB Draft be on TV?
I believe diehards would enjoy it, but in the case of baseball, the draft doesn't pay dividens immediately, like it does in other sports! So, in that sense, it may NOT have a huge ratings draw! I would like to hear or see it in print form analysis of each draft choice for each team!

I voted yes, if I could watch it I would, but I can't.

I don't see why not.
The NFL Draft is on every year, the NBA Draft is on every year. I think there will be some people who are interested in just watching the first couple rounds and that's it, but give it a chance.
