    Nationals Bad News for Nationals

Michael Morse will be shut down for the next six weeks after aggravating his lat strain this week.
Tough news for the Nationals, who were hoping to have Morse in the starting lineup for Thursday's home opener against the Reds. Now it's looking like the 30-year-old slugger could be sidelined until mid-to-late June. Mark DeRosa, Xavier Nady and Roger Bernadina will continue sharing playing time in left field for Washington.

Nationals prospect Anthony Rendon has been diagnosed with a partial fracture in his left ankle.
Initial X-rays came back negative after Rendon injured the ankle while running the bases last weekend at High-A Potomac. But new tests were run once the swelling dissipated, and a small fracture was revealed. The 21-year-old infielder has been fitted with a walking boot and will likely miss the next couple of months.
Morse just signed a sizable contract extension this offseason but looks like he will have to wait a a while to earn some of it. Rendon being out a couple of months will help slow his development. Rendon is one of the Nats top prospects.
