Riggleman Resigns - Davey Johnson to be named as manager

Jim Riggleman resigns as Washington Nationals manager after win - ESPN

Won 11 of their last 12 and the organization didn't see him as the long term solution... I'm shocked really, considering the lack of talent on the roster to be over .500 is absolutely amazing

I wonder effect this will have on Zimmerman who wanted Riggleman re-signed in the first place. This is quite the surprise and really don't see why the Nats didn't want to pick up his option.

Not that it really matters I guess in the long run but there seems to be a difference in the "ultimatum". Sounds to me like Riggleman didn’t think he would be in their plans and just decided to step down instead of pushed out. Leaving on his terms instead of theirs.

80 year olds, 68 year olds...age is just a number for coaches.

Solid fit... as for Riggleman I don't blame him doing what he was doing... they def shoulda just tacked on the year... but Davey Johnson could be a good manager

At least it is someone within the orginization that the players already feel comfortable and like. Been over a decade since he skippered.

I think the Nats should have given Bo Porter the job.

These "senior" positions keep end up being just temporary holding spots until the actual person hired for the job fucks up.
