Nationals Nationals Series Recap (SF Giants: 6/6-6/8)

Game 1: John Lannan out pitched Tim Lincecum tonight just to have the Nationals bullpen with Todd Coffey and Sean Burnett blow the lead in the late innings. The Nationals offensive woes continue heading into the 9th inning the Nats only had 5 hits. One of the offensive bright spots was Mike Morse who hit his 9th home run early in the game to give the Nationals the lead. Ian Desmond also had a productive game getting 3 hits and Roger Bernadino reached base 3 times, but other than that the Nationals bats were really quiet. The game is now heading to the bottom of the 13th and it is extremely late. I have to be into work by 8 in the morning so I hope to be finishing this up tomorrow with a winning result for the Nationals. Before I could even turn the television off and get to bed Freddy Sanchez ended a miserable game for the bullpen singling off of Stammen and scoring Stewart to end the game 5-4 with the win going to the Giants.

Game 2: Tonight was the Jordan Zimmerman show as he pitched 7 innings allowing only 5 hits off the Giants bats and 1 run. The problem again is the Nationals kept it close with there inept ability to hit only tallying 7 hits of there own off of Sanchez, Ramirez, and Lopez. The big hits for the game were Ian Desmond's RBI single, a double by Mike Morse and Rick Ankiel, and a sacrifice by Jordan Zimmerman. Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless 8th inning followed by a scoreless ninth by Drew Storen to pick up the save.

Game 3: You could say the Nationals bats were over matched by Matt Cain and you would be absolutely correct. The Giants pitcher pitched a complete game 5 hitter allowing just 1 run and struck out 11 Nats batters. The Nationals young starter Maya didn't pitch bad at all going 6 innings and only allowing 1 run. It was the horrible pitching of Sean Burnett that blew this game as he gave up 2 runs in just one inning giving the Giants a two run lead. The way the Nationals bats have been going a two run deficit in any game in the late innings you can practically put that game down in the loss column. It is now off to San Diego on the west coast trip.
