Stephen Strasburg (elbow) has begun playing catch from a distance of 90 feet.
Strasburg began with throwing session of 45 feet and was cleared to double that distance this week. The 22-year-old still has a long road to travel in his ongoing recovery from Tommy John surgery and is unlikely to pitch during the 2011 season. Look for him on Opening Day 2012.
While it says Strasburg is unlikely to pitch in 2011, I have read different from other baseball experts. They say he is surprisingly way ahead schedule and that if the Nats felt he was ready to pitch come September, the Nats would let him get a taste of the MLB before the 2012 season. Its good to see him throwing 90 feet in March though.
