What I dont like is that they said they threw at him for stealing bases down by 11 runs in the 4th. Did they just expect the Nats to roll over and die? The man scored because of those stolen bases. You don't steal if you're up 11, not down 11

I actually didn’t get to see any clips until yesterday.

While I understand the first retaliation on Morgan for what is being viewed as “unnecessary” contact with the catcher Hayes on Tuesday, this idea of retaliating for stealing bases and trying to play your game to get back in it, is just plain CRAP!

The Rays were involved in a similar fracas last season with the Indians when loud mouth Vmart made a stink about BJ Upton stealing bases when the Rays were down to them 9-0 by the 6th inning in a game last May. In the bottom of the 6th, BJ lead off and drew a walk, he stole 2nd then 3rd, the Rays ended up scoring 6 runs, so we were only down by 3. We ended up losing the game when the Indians scored more later, but until that 27th out you should be trying to win. Victor runs to the press spouting about some “unwritten rules” book of baseball. As far as I’m concerned he can shove the book where the sun don’t shine. I believe During the last game of that series Kerry Wood threw at BJ (it was the game where the Rays lost the DH because Joe screwed up the line-up card) and the benches cleared.

In my view Volstead (and probably Manager Erod as well) was the instigator in this particular incident and should have received the bulk of the punishment. Morgan was standing up for himself and Sanchez for his pitcher, even if in the wrong.


I have heard the same crap about how it is disrepectful to bunt during a no-hit bid, BULLSHIT!!! You're trying to get on base, to score runs to win a ballgame not give the opposing pitcher his 15 minutes in the spotlight.

I think the full body of douchebaggery earned him the 8 game suspension. I really don't care about the stealing bases thing, or fighting Volstad but throwing a ball at a fan, being dirty in crashing into a pair of catchers (one of which cost his team a win), and his reaction AFTER the brawl earned him this suspension. I honestly expected a longer suspension.
