Nyjer Morgan storms Chris Volstad, gets clotheslined by Gaby Sanchez

I think the full body of douchebaggery earned him the 8 game suspension. I really don't care about the stealing bases thing, or fighting Volstad but throwing a ball at a fan, being dirty in crashing into a pair of catchers (one of which cost his team a win), and his reaction AFTER the brawl earned him this suspension. I honestly expected a longer suspension.

I was hoping MLB were gonna send him to some sort of anger class, to check himself before he wrecks himself.

But he does play the heel role so well. Ric Flair would be so proud.

Funny thing is he is appealing a 7 game suspension. He is looking at 15 games total.

I don't think Morgan was in the wrong charging the mound. I would have done the same. But running into the Cards catcher is another story.

I didn't realize he had the other suspension pending. I think he should be suspended for the rest of 2010 and send him to some kind of anger management thing or whatever, so he can try to start anew in 2011. Everything he's been involved in has been in such a short span, he's on a destructive pattern. It might be in his best interest to be shut down so he doesn't do anything this year.

I don't get the unwritten rule part where he shouldn't be stealing, and trying to score. It was early in the game, and it ended up 16-10. A lot of big leads have been lost this year, you can never rule out a come back. So, when the analysts are talking of this unwritten rule, I get that if Morgan was doing that with a big lead, but not as it happened. Sure, he was cocky and Florida had a bad taste in their mouth from him as is, but Morgan's talent is speed and stealing basis, making something happen when he's on base. I just think Voldstad was a little butt hurt that Morgan swiped a pair on him, after knocking out his catcher the day before.
