    Re: 6/8: S. Strasburg's debut

Nice way to get people to the stands on a day no one cares about.

Tickets sold for any Pirates game... >1500
Tickets sold for Strausburg's Debut... <40000

Nice bump in revenue you think?

Oh you mean how he does...

It is the Pirates after all...

    8 IP, 3 Hits, 0 runs, 2 bbs, 12 k's. ~95 pitches

I predict he'll have some nerves early on, but will settle down just fine. The savior is almost here Washington.

That would be a good time to do like the old game of the week thingy we used to do.

5 innings, 5 ks, 1 walk, no ER, victory.

Yeah, I am having a hard time seeing him going more than 6 innings, unless he was just so efficient that it made sense to keep him in. The Nationals, if they were smart (big if), should play it safe with him.

Agree. 6 innings max most likely. He's no Mike Leake.

Its still the Pirates were talking about. 95 pitches vs the Pirates isnt the same as 95 pitches vs the Reds .

Leake walked the entire team and still almost went 7 innings

Slyder was the closest, surprisingly. He gave him the benefit of going deep into the game and almost called the # of pitches

damn couldnt the Pirates have fouled off 1 more pitch in their futile attempt to impersanate a major league team? Anyways if theres ever a team to make your debut against its the Pirates, any talent whatsoever and the job is done.

    Re: 6/8: S. Strasburg's debut

Its too soon to call him Mark Prior, plus Prior had some really bad luck with injuries that had nothing to do with injuries like getting hit by a line drive.
