Clippard in 2009: 2.69 ERA through 60 1/3 innings, with 67 strikeouts.

Right now, he's pitched 14.2 innings with 19 strikeouts, 3 wins, 3 holds, and has a very awesome approved .75 WHIP.



Ladies and gentlemen, he was dealt by the Evil Empire for the legendary reliever Jonathan Albaladejo. Some might say the Natinals won something for once.

Clippard is on pace for 33 wins this season. I'll set the conservative over/under at 15. There are good chances that he finishes with more wins than Greinke and/or Lincecum, perhaps.

I mentioned this on our FB page, but Washington right now has a pretty sneaky good relief corp for close games: Clippard, Burnett, and Storen. That makes that Matt Capps deal so much more brilliant.

What would make the Capps trade so brilliant is if Riggleman would stop sending Pudge out there and stick with Wilson Ramos.
