    Nationals Zimmerman Wants Riggleman

Throwing his support behind his interim manager, Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman tells the Baltimore Sun that Jim Riggleman would be a good choice for the full-time job.

Zimmerman said Riggleman is "a terrific in-house candidate ... who's got as good a chance as anybody."

Riggleman took over in July after the Nationals fired Manny Acta. He guided the club to a 33-42 record.

In parts of 10 seasons with the Padres, Cubs, Mariners and Nationals, Riggleman has a managerial record of 555-694.

The newspaper reports the Nationals, who have restructured their front office this week, are expected address their managerial vacancy soon.
That the Nats were just nine games under .500 after he took over is all the reason one would need to hire Riggleman to a deal. The Nats played their asses off for him and if the franchise wants him, you do it. Not like many big name guys are dying to be the Nat manger. I say get this deal done now so they can focus on greater matters come free agency time like building a bullpen.

And they got him!! He signed a deal yesterday beating out Bobby Valentine for the job. Surprised it took this long since the franchise was asking for him. Good hire! Now sign some ******* pitching!!
