Player Dunn off to a hot start

Dunn is a notoriously streaky player, capable of carrying an offense and also struggling (although he always maintains a fairly respectable OBP, so it is up for debate if he is streaky.) However, I am really quite happy that he is off to a good start to his career in Washington as the Nationals haven't had a whole lot else to be happy about, although the young rotation has looked better as of late.

So far, through 14 games and 46 AB's, Dunn is hitting .283 with a monster .476 OBP (17 BB's to 11 K's), with 4 homeruns, 3 doubles, and 12 RBI's. With Johnson healthy and hitting .380 with a .446 OBP (great fit for the #2 spot,) the Nationals have certainly been getting runners on the basepaths. The thing to watch with Dunn though is that last season in his post-ASG splits, he got pretty close to posting a 1 to 1 BB to K ratio and obviously this year he is exceeding it, it is a small sample but if Dunn has gotten more selective at the plate and can post a BA north of .260, he'll be even more of a force for the Nationals over his contract. There have been plenty of threads debating the worth of Dunn and that isn't what this is, just recognizing a nice start for his career in Washington.

By the way, I read this Nationals rotation has had a 2.27 ERA over their last seven starts, they must hate their bullpen.

As good as Dunn has started off, the Nats' clubhouse manager has not however.

Dunn as their cleanup man is scary though. He has never had good production with RISP.
