    Nationals Milledge Sent Down

Nationals optioned outfielder Lastings Milledge to Triple-A Syracuse.
That's one way to clear up the logjam. Milledge clearly upset the Nats by showing up late a couple of times already, and it might be that a trip back to Triple-A is the best thing for him, even if the only thing left for him to learn in the minors is humility. The Nats will go with Elijah Dukes as their everyday center fielder for now. Austin Kearns will get most of the starts in right, and Josh Willingham could be worth using in NL-only leagues again.
Now this is a shock! Willingham hasn't really been given a shot so this does work out for him. Milledge has been disappointing so far this year defensively so this could give him a chance to learn how to read a damn ball off the bat. The Nats are just a mess!

Not surprising from a team with such a pitiful front office.

What a joke organization and franchise.

Willingham has complained recently about his lack of playing time and I can't blame him, I'd complain too if I was sitting for Milledge.

What do you know, Omar Minaya got the last laugh out of the Milledge to Washington trade.

Milledge never impressed me in the first place. Didn't get what all the hype was about.

    Re: Milledge Sent Down

Lastings Milledge suffered a broken finger while playing Monday at Triple-A.
Milledge broke the finger while attempting to bunt in the first inning against Indianapolis. It's another setback for the talented outfielder. Milledge was the Nationals' center fielder and leadoff hitter to begin this season before being demoted to the minors in mid April.
Its just not getting any better for Milledge. He was demoted by the worst team in all of baseball and now has his finger broken delaying any chance to return to the circus.

You shouldn't have your fingers at risk on a bunt, they should be behind the bat. This tells me that Milledge either got lazy, or has bad form on his bunt...

It could have been a pitch that ran inside and couldn't get out of the way in time but Milledge being lazy wouldn't surprise anyone at this point.

That's true...I didn't think of that. Either way, Lastings Milledge is not impressing anyone right now.

He will miss 6-8 weeks so this is definitely a huge setback.
