Sources told MLB.com that the Nationals and Daniel Cabrera have come to terms on a one-year deal.
The Mets and Pirates were in hot pursuit before Cabrera chose the Nationals. He'll replace Tim Redding in a rotation also set to include John Lannan and Scott Olsen. It again looks like free agent Odalis Perez will have to continue his career elsewhere.
Cabrera is 28 years old and has a career ERA of 5.05. Cabrera has never found command at the big league level. He has 651 K's to 478 BB's. That is a horrible ratio! When Cabrera is not walking batters left and right, he is serving up the long ball. He gives up an average of 20 HRs a season. Maybe a move to the NL will do some good but he should stay around his 5.00 ERA.
