    Roster Nationals release veterans

    C Paul LoDuca, C Johnny Estrada, IF Felipe Lopez

    WASHINGTON -- Late Thursday, the Nationals gave infielder Felipe Lopez and catchers Paul Lo Duca and Johnny Estrada their unconditional releases. The team is expected to recall second baseman Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Columbus and activated outfielder Elijah Dukes from the 15-day disabled list.

    Wouldn't it have been better to put them on waivers? That way, if they pass through, they can be traded. Also, if they DON'T pass through waivers, the team that claims them would be forced to take on their salary. Why wouldn't the Nationals rather (at the very least) dump the salaries of these guys?
