Nationals agreed to terms with second baseman Bret Boone on a minor league contract.
Yes, Bret Boone. He hasn't played in the majors since hitting .170 in a 14-game stint with the Twins in 2005 and will turn 39 years old in April, so needless to say that Boone is an extreme long shot to be in the Nationals' plans. His brother Aaron figures to make the team as a reserve player and his father Bob is the team's assistant general manager. Much like Dmitri Young last year, Boone will not be joining the major league camp initially, instead reporting to the accelerated development camp with minor leaguers.
So now there's Bret, Aaron and Bob Boone in the Nationals organization. Who's next? Pat Boone? Daniel Boone's zombie body? Was Bret's name in the Mitchell Report?
