WASHINGTON -- The Nationals made two roster moves on Monday, activating closer Chad Cordero from the bereavement list and placing right-hander Shawn Hill on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 12, with a left shoulder strain.
Cordero, who was placed on the list on May 8, went back to Southern California to be with his ailing grandmother, who died from brain cancer on Friday.

Cordero said that his grandmother's illness was affecting his performance. On May 6, he had a tough time throwing strikes and gave up a game-tying run in the ninth inning against the Cubs.

Hill, who is 3-3 with a 2.70 ERA in eight starts for Washington in 2007, has been the ace and leader of the pitching staff.

Hill hurt his shoulder on April 20 while running the basepaths against the Marlins. The lefty continued to pitch with the injury until he was taken out of Friday's game after five no-hit innings against Florida at Robert F. Kennedy Stadium.
Best wishes to both of those guys...Hill had been pitching so well too. You really hope he comes back because he's been about the only consistent source of stability in the rotation and certainly one of the top rookies in baseball.
