Nationals at the plate: The Nats scored an unearned run in the first, thanks to errors by Craig Biggio and Brad Ausmus. D'Angelo Jimenez and Brian Schneider both went 2-for-3. Larry Broadway recorded Washington's only RBI, knocking a base hit in the second off Astros ace Roy Oswalt.
Astros at the plate: Biggio knocked a solo homer off Saul Rivera with one out in the sixth, and after Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee connected with singles, Ensberg cleared the bases with a three-run homer, giving the Astros a three-run lead.
Nationals on the mound: Starter Shawn Hill allowed one run on three hits over three innings, striking out two.
Astros on the mound: Oswalt allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits over three innings. He struck out four batters. Troy Patton pitched a scoreless sixth frame in his first outing of the spring.
Grapefruit League records: Astros 4-3; Nationals 1-6.
