Dodgers at the plate: Non-roster outfielder Larry Bigbie slugged two homers and a double, driving in five runs. Jason Repko doubled home Bigbie with the go-ahead run. Wilson Valdez had two hits, a stolen base and scored three runs. Juan Pierre had an RBI single.
Nationals at the plate: Ryan Zimmerman slugged a two-run homer. The Nationals scored five runs in the third inning, helped by two Wilson Valdez errors.
Dodgers on the mound: Starter Jason Schmidt pitched two scoreless innings in his Dodgers debut. Mark Hendrickson allowed seven runs (five earned) in 1 2/3 innings. He allowed a two-run homer to Zimmerman. Non-roster left-hander Matt White retired all four batters he faced, Greg Miller threw two scoreless innings and Rudy Seanez had one. Joe Beimel allowed two hits and pitched a scoreless ninth in his first appearance since his playoff injury in a bar.
Nationals on the mound: Starter Shawn Hill allowed two runs in two innings. Chris Schroder allowed Bigbie's three-run homer.
