Baltimore Trade Block (shiny toys inside!)

I am faux-running them for now, but they are old and could use some redecorating in the farm. There's several good players available, as well as useful pieces to contenders.

Everyone 27 and older is available except C Matt Wieters, 3B Billy Rowell (he's out for the year), and that's it for now. Nick and I will decide later if Wieters will be available, but for now, he is not.

    Players of interest:

    C.C. Sabathia
3.09 ERA, WHIP under 1, still has 10 endurance

    Jake Arrieta
ERA under 4, makes under 10 million

    Brandon Erbe
    2.23 ERA, 1.21 WHIP

    Brian Matusz

    Roy Corcoran
    2.21 ERA, 0.89 WHIP

    Ben Tootle

    Jose Valverde
    5 saves, .94 WHIP

    Nick Markakis
    Hitting .317 with 8 steals

    Freddy Sanchez
    Hitting .378 with 17 rbi

    Harlan Jones

    Walter Mejia

    Kieron Pope

    Ryan Norwood

    Nick Noonan
    .800 OPS infielder

Several other veterans are available throughout roster.

    Needed:
    Prospects and younger players
(especially another catcher that can hit and field well enough would be great, I want to move Wieters out to 1B or DH so he plays more games a season- and other positions, pitching and positional ARE welcome)

Send me a PM, thank you.

interested in Matusz...not a very good track record though. I wonder if he went to the Brandon McCarthy school of pitching (i.e. have the perfect PA setup, but never perform up to it).

KC has interest in (insert pitcher here), Ben Tootle, and Roy Corcoran. Pretty much anyone could be had for the right price.

Nah Saber. Actually, maybe you did BAL too... but I know for fact you handled Texas for awhile after Briandawkins up and quit. Baltimore was available too, but I think I let hammer or Zito run them... I don't even remember anymore. Theo took over Baltimore and ran them well for atleast 4-5 sim seasons, which would probably be close to a year in real life with the pace I run... culminated at a world series birth eventually.

    Also for the record...

I am still against having one GM run multiple teams for the record... but exceptions are made if needed-- like now.

As of now, Baltimore is on the bubble of becoming very irrelevant (like they were when Dry ran them basically-- until Theo came, we tried Dry as BAL's GM, we bernieball20000 or whatever that guys name was, we tried off-site people who lasted 2 days... etc.).
They had a nice run for a little, but losing their GM right in the middle of the run pretty much screwed them. Bedard retiring after a nice season (still locked for a few more yrs at the time too) didn't help either.

If lucky, they could win the wild card this yr, but I don't really anticipate that happening.. when you look at their team, most of the best players there are close to retirement or retiring the next season. Despite having a great yr Sanchez is 40 and pretty much a shell of his former ratings. Sabathia never missed a beat, and is 20-some odd victories away from reaching 300 wins... at 37 though, he could retire any minute too. Their bullpen is ancient-- the only guy under 30 is a mopup man and pretty much useless as is. Staff is 4-men deep and only 4-men deep... no one on their farm or in their bullpen even fits as a starter. And Matsusz still isn't performing.

Last straw for them was Rowell going down for the year...

Basically what Zito said in his first post is what goes, until we can find someone for 'em he's going to restock the farm (which has to be the very worst in the league) via trade.

I'd also prefer if you guys sent him the offers, instead of the other way around... I can't come up with a real reason for this, just seems like it'd work better.

Thanks to Koz for taking care of the O's for now. I've been autoing MIL very minimally, but they have a good enough team that they don't need a lot of work... I hope we can fill them before BAL honestly.

I'll counter any offers that make some sense or are at least decent. But I will not bother if you're only offering a 25 year old 4 star prospect in single A for Arrieta or something.
