Re: I need about 4 new GMs this offseason.

I'm not sold on ending it, BELIEVE me. I'd really, really like to keep it running. And, I was likely holding the Yankees for perf for awhile because, at the worst, like Zito said he always comes back. And he's the only one to run them right.

Baltimore and SFN are likely available. I've tried to get BJD to come off of the other forum I know him from, but he says he has life issues which is why he hasn't been around and I don't want to bullshit him anymore. If he has time to post there, I just assumed he'd have time to rejoin up here... but if he's busy he's busy. I want to keep the team for him too, but it's like... it's been long enough, it seems like you're not interested anymore, so yeah... I'm not one to bust nuts

    Theo just outright disappeared.

Crazy left, and while the Cards will be ok once Krush gets his internet back... but even then, I know krush somewhat off the forums and know he's probably pretty occupied with stuff.

Dunno if Catman has the time. Nothing wrong with that, but if so, Tex is another team without a GM...

There's a few other dead-like teams with usually good GMs. I don't want to name names, because that's not my style. But I wish they would send lineups or maintain their teams a little more.

I love running a league, but yeah. It's just getting harder. Maybe I would contract. I don't know. I'd hate to tarnish it like that. If I did that, I think I'd likely turn aging sliders up and keep weakening the drafts.

We'll see... I realize a LOT of you guys are committed to the league and site. But as time passes, and I continue putting time into this and get less and less back, it seems like something I'd rather put on the shelf.

And I appreciate all of the kind words from you guys... I'm glad to hear the final product I, and everyone else who has helped me present (zito, hammer, trade council, tips i picked up from mission & prov, anyone who helped with the file even...) works out to something you guys enjoy.

Same goes for Mission, who ends up balancing job, college, this website, etc. all the while running a good league. It takes a toll and you don't really fully understand it until you try to run one.
I fully understand and commend him for it.

Re: I need about 4 new GMs this offseason.

CJ, it'd be easy like that, but Buck has been in TPSL about 3-4 times before and never really stayed long enough to contribute any of the times. No offense to Buck, as he was very apologetic and always let me know what was up when he would come back, but in a way, it's like having Crazy occupy a team... it's just hard to have consistency there for more than a month at a time.

I'd be fine giving him a team like Texas again, if it turns out Catman doesn't have the time (which it would seem so far, anyway). I think Buck even ran Texas for a minute there, so it would be the fair thing to do.

NYY, BAL, and SFN I'd like to find a more expereinced GM for I think... and I swore there was a 5th team too, but maybe not. This isn't a shot at Buck or anything either, just know from the past I don't want a GM there for a few weeks to fade again. With Texas, it doesn't even matter at this point-- anything is better. SFN maybe too...

But the other 2 teams have had nice runs in this league.

I know I probably have no room to be picky with GMs, but yeah. Don't want any major uncertainties...

Wouldn't you want the more experienced GMs to take over teams that need a lot of help? (As opposed to the ones that are in better shape.)

Re: I need about 4 new GMs this offseason.

Eh, I dunno. I look at it like this: would you rather have someone who knows how to run a team like the Yankees running them, or would you rather have a guy who comes and goes let a team like that fall into the ground?

I guess you have a point. Yankees need a lot of help nonetheless-- they're at a stage where they need to destroy FA with offers, or fall into a hole. Their core is old.

Baltimore is close to rebuilding too.

Point being, these two teams have a chance for the next few seasons. I guess I just don't want to have to replace any of these guys, unless I know the GM I'm getting is close to as good as the one's before. But that's near impossible probably. So I don't know.

We'll see. Maybe I'll give the Yankees to Saber for now, and Baltimore to Al Pacino. And then we can focus on filling 2 teams, which takes a lot of heat down. And it gives a chance for perf and theo, both I haven't completely lost hope on... to return.

I don't doubt we can fill all 4 in time, but it's annoying to have to run them myself. I'll try anything really.

Re: I need about 4 new GMs this offseason.

There are cons to allowing an inexperienced GM take over any team, but my thinking is if you give the inexperienced team a team that doesn't need quite as much help you're helping him along with an easier project.

There will still be downfalls (like you said, he might take a team in good shape needing a little help and ruin them) but, at the same time, he could make the bad team he takes over 100 times worse.

Meanwhile, an experienced GM could take a team like the Rangers and dig them out of the hole and make them contenders.

It's your choice what to do and which teams to try and fill with which types of GMs, of course. Don't take my posts as me telling you otherwise, just stating my personal opinion on the matter.

Sometimes the inexperienced ones take over and learn on the fly. I took over the Twins in S3SL without much OOTP experience.
