    2009 Offseason Rumblings

Since we are past the World Series, I thought I'd go ahead and start this thread up with a question.

When can we expect an update and/or change to next season Nick?

    w00t.

    The Good:
Elijah Dukes has learned to better avoid strikeouts!
Elijah Dukes increased his bat control, resulting in more contact! (Man he must have been royally pieved to find out he'd been traded to the Royals, this is about his second or third boost since coming over)
    Zach Greinke kicked some butt in winter league...(Now 7 8 6 of 8 10 8 and only 25).

Christopher Dorr seems to have improved his pure stuff!
Christopher Dorr's pitches have more bite now, the movement has improved!
Christopher Dorr is hitting his spots better, his command improved! (FA spect comes in 7 6 9)
William Ellzey has increased his lower body strength, his duration raises! (sucks but can now possibly pitch a full game of suckitude)

    The Bad:
Billy Butler seems to have lost some bat speed, resulting in less contact...
Billy Butler develops a habit for striking out more... (Dont cry too hard for him he still has a significant role to play).

    The Draft:
    Austin Tillman
Say hello to the new Kansas City First Baseman.

    Subject: Mariano Rivera returns.
39 year old Pitcher Mariano Rivera returns from retirement and is now a free agent.

    Regards,
    League Commissioner

Sheets totally ****ed up my Michael Young trade.... I wasn't even able to hold on to him. It just beats letting someone else nab sheets for 25-30 million.... and I've seen it happen in other sims, so I'm not writing off anyone else making an obscene offer to him.

Pros: I should still be alright... this is definately a re-loading year for the Yankees. I have a lot of movable pieces, and if my team isn't in contention, I could be the biggest seller at the deadline. I do have a lot of money coming off the books next season.

Cons: This team stinks... I do like my pitching though. Sheets, Schmidt, Pedro's shell, Arroyo and Lowe is a nice rotation. The pen remains solid.

I am actually doing nothing at free agency, except maybe bringing in another reliever.

Its sad that Johnny Damon is going to be a 13 million dollar 4th outfielder....

Time to start taking this seriously though, and play like a real team. Steinbrenner mode officially ends now. Consider him dead. RIP George.

OUCH! Inge, Cook, and Hawpe did not drop in salary like they were projected. I guess I should have listened to the other guys...

a good off-season for Toronto, lets start off with this

Andrew Rockett seems to have improved his pure stuff!
Andrew Rockett's pitches have more bite now, the movement has improved!
Andrew Rockett is hitting his spots better, his command improved!
a new SP 5.0 star prospect, with 6-10-8 talent
Drafted in 3rd round, 78th overall pick, by Toronto in 2008

not bad for a 3rd round pick

next we have Wayne Lydon increasing his contact talent to 8.

Lamce Berkman getting back in his 2007 form, so I'm expecting a better season this time around.

I'm planning to dip into some FA money that's available, although there isn't much I need since the FA who left can be replaced easily, but with Roy Halladay needing a new contract I won't get carried away with spending.

I hope Halladay holds you up at gunpoint like that criminal Ben Sheets did to me.

FA does not look too promising... BUT the talent in the draft this year is pretty deep.....

Just a hunch, but I do not see any 15MIL+ per year signings going on this year

Well... Andrew Miller is ready to come up to the bigs and join Detroit's rotation... it is exactly what I was hoping for.... hopefully a little bump in control rating will happen in ST....

Shane Lindsay might be in the rotation as the #4, even though he has to up a few of the ratings a bit closer to the talent yet....

Kodak Ruvalcaba will have playing time at C against lefties, until he ups his ratings against righties a bit

The youth looks to give Detroit a little bump as needed... now if I can only get things rolling on the trade block side, I'll be ok

Oh... and Detroit's Fan loyalty increases to Very Good!... sweet

I bet you do, look for what Harden wants too, since he could become a Free Agent with 125 more days of service this year.

I love the fact that all my guys are young and I return almost everyone for next year. Hopefully the fans will realize that they are actually trying to win.
