wait... the yankees aren't done? NYY-COL

    Colorado trades:

    Ben Sheets-SP, 4.5, 10 million
    Edgar Renteria-SS, 2.5, 8.6 million

    Total- 18.6 mil

    New York Yankees trade:

    Mark Mulder-SP, 2.5, 8 million
    Bobby Crosby-SS, 2.5, 3.062 million
    Wilson Betimet-SS/3B, 1.5, 350k
Matthew Jennings, RF, 4.5 prospect, MLC
    Jessie Hoover-MR, 2.5, 300k

    total 11.712 mil

I think this lines up financially... when the offer is thrown at you to get Ben Sheets out of free agency next season, you take it.

im really on the fence with this one, colorado gave up tons more than this like 2 days ago... i realize they were shown they couldnt sign him, but who amongst us 1. actually expected sheets to sign the extension with him and 2. didnt allow him to get a discount on the last trade because of that fact. ill give it a look over again later.

Sadly he is the one who made the offer to me... I actually threw in more than his initial offer had....

If Crosby were only better, I'd probably pass. But he's average at best and Mulder may be good, but Sheets is Sheets. Colorado made the risk in trading for two soon to be FA super pitchers, they need to live with that unless they get an equally great deal.

It was an afterthought for me... I just think he's afraid of getting nothing but the pick for sheets... and he'll be getting that from me most likely.

I just took him up on his offer... he proposed the deal to me as mulder/crosby/betemit, and I added more... heck, if it would get the deal done, I'd add clippard or davis, thats about all I can offer

If I were to include Clippard(4.0 star SP spect) and Davis(3.5 star 2b spect- expendable because of kinsler), would it be a pass?

My thing is, he's just not getting much. Mulder is good, Hoover is solid, and Betemit/Crosby are average at best. Jennings isn't a very good prospect, only thing going for him is his last name.

I won't lie, I want the upper hand on sheets... but if you think its a bullshit deal, don't pass it. I kinda need sheets to win this division... and will push hard for him if he hits free agency.

I don't know why he is so quick to deal him.

Here is what he has to say on it....

Whatever it takes... I think Mulder will do very well in Coors. He is the same age as Sheets, but not as dominant. I am tickled with getting a younger SS who is more power oriented... also good for Coors... and if Betimet is a late bloomer... I have a decent 3B... I am big on movement and GBP in Coors due to my park effect and would rather have your first rounder than Clippard, but it is not a dealbreaker. I would guess that you will move into the top ten teams, possibly even top 5... over the course of the remainder of the season (W/ Sheets)... I would guess that your pick would net me a 3.5 prospect, but I prefer to cater my pick to Coors like I did with Theodore Alston this past draft. I would urge the TC to pass this trade due to the intangibles of Sheets contract. I offered him $20,100,000 for 6 years and he wanted more money. I took a chance trading for him and I knew it. Now I am asking the TC to allow me to trade him for slightly less. My preference would be the current trade agreed to plus NYY's first rounder and L. Ramirez-MR, 4.0p or Taylor-3B, 3.0p. Clippard needs to pitch in Yankee Stadium or Seattle or LAD. Thanks.
I know we can't trade picks straight up, but if I can owe him my first rounder and just draft a guy he wants, I'd do it.

Hey, he knew the risks, if we let him move Sheets cheaply, we would have to let other teams move great players cheaply.

Yeah, but I want sheets cheaply, and K-Mart doesn't have them on sale this week.
