For Ricciardi, who is about to dip into the remaining $160-million (U.S.) of a three-year, $210-million payroll guarantee from ownership, it's the first chance he's had to play the high roller -- hence the interest from Dan Lozano, the agent for iconic New York Mets catcher and free-agent Piazza.

I think whatever AL team lands Piazza, they will be happy with the results. Just don't overpay the man and let him earn a good contract. Piazza in a lineup with Wells, Hillenbrand and Hinske doesn't sound bad to me.
