    Blue Jays Morrow gets extension

Blue Jays signed RHP Brandon Morrow to a three-year, $20 million contract extension with a $10 million club option for 2015.
The deal covers Morrow's two remaining arbitration seasons and his first year of free agency. It's a risky play for the Blue Jays given the right-hander's history with injuries and his sometimes troubling walk rates. But he's only 27, possesses nasty raw stuff, and he has the potential to dominate if he fixes a few flaws. Morrow had a 4.72 ERA and 10.2 K/9 in 30 starts last season.
He's a strikeout artist...as well as being a walk artist. He has never eclipsed 180 IP in a season so this is definitely a gamble for the Jays but not one that is going to cripple the Jays. Morrow is entering his prime so maybe he puts it all together soon! I like seeing him mow guys down. Morrow will earn $4MM in 2012 and $8MM in 2013 and 2014.

    Re: Morrow gets extension

Last year starting on the DL hurt the progression of IP's per year. The year before that they shut him down early.

Still think this was something they had to do. Him and Ricky make a great young tandem.
