Where will the Blue Jays finish in 2011?

Perhaps the Blue Jays have had an unheralded off season. Certainly they didn't acquire any big names. But that's not what this off season was the start of, as evidenced by the celebrated trade of Vernon Wells and Vernon Wells' incredibly bad contract. The Blue Jays are hitting the refresh button, and going a different route for the time being. That's building the farm up and taking chances on reclamation projects. They managed to find some gold in Jose Bautista and Brandon Morrow, now it's time to see if Edwin Encarnacion and Frank Francisco have that kind of success in 2011. Even though there's change at catcher, Wells being gone, and Overbay being gone, there is not a lack of offense on this team. And certainly not a lack of power. Snider, Rivera, Encarnacion, Hill, Lind are all capable. The on going question, if he stays healthy again, does Jose Bautista have a repeat performance? If they can get another 50 homeruns, 100 walks, and monster slugging percentage, the offense should be just fine. It's a huge if. He's either going to be a late bloomer, or one of the greatest flukes since Brady Anderson. They're still going young in the rotation, building around Morrow and Ricky Romero, continuing to go with Jesse Litsch, Bret Cecil, and possibly Kyle Drabek. The pen isn't magnificent by any means, but could be very solid with the additions of veterans Dotel and Rauch to finish off the cast. Francisco has an opportunity to be a closer again, but he's rarely healthy and currently is seeking medical opinion from Dr. Andrews. Anyone up for seeing Dotel or Rauch close games again?

I voted 4th because I think most, if not all those bullpen arms you mentioned will be trade bait at the deadline. I like the rotation but the offense will have its hiccups and will once again live and die by the long ball, even if they did add some much needed speed. In no way do I see Bautista repeating last year's performance and you never know what you're going to get from Hill. The Jays are definitely headed in the right direction and might keep it close with the Rays but I do see them being sellers at the deadline which is why I have them 4th.

I think 3rd place for the Jays is possible. That means the Yankees would be in 4th place. I think the Jays have a great lineup and there pitching is coming along with Drabek, Reyes, and Romero.

4th place, I love them but its just reality. There is probably a 10% chance they finish above 4th if the other teams have pitching injuries.
