Report: Blue Jays in talks with OF Gathright

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to added some speed to their outfield.

According multiple reports, the club is in discussions with free agent speedster Joey Gathright.

Despite an earlier report from the Toronto Sun saying that the deal was done, all parties involved are saying that isn't the case.

Reynolds Sports Management, Gathright's agency, has disputed the report, as has Blue Jays assistant general manager Tony LaCava.

"We haven't finished anything," LaCava told bluejays.com blogger Jordan Bastian. "We're talking to him and his agents, as are other teams."

Would like him as an 4th/5th OFer but anymore than that scares me

With Marco being gone, the need, and want of some "Speed" in T.O to show up from time to time. Any "Speed" we do get from Joey would be of a great bonus if he plays, and starts to hit from the leadoff spot at any point in the next "Speed" season.
