Jays' Litsch to have surgery, out for the season

The Toronto Blue Jays will have to continue their push for a playoff spot this season without Jesse Litsch.

The team announced on Tuesday that the right-handed pitcher, who injured his arm on April 13 and has been on the disabled list since, will have season-ending Tommy John surgery on Friday.

Renowned arm specialist James Andrews will perform the operation.

Litsch is expected to miss 10-12 months.
a blow to the rotation but gives guys like Tallet and Romero more time to show what they can do
