Blue Jays 2009 Blue Jays News and Notes

Jays call up Cecil, Ray and Wolfe; Purcey sent to triple-A

On Friday the team called up left-hander Brett Cecil and right-handers Robert Ray and Brian Wolfe from the Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League in Triple-A.

David Purcey, Brian Burres and Bryan Bullington were sent down to the 51s.
too bad for Purcey but his control was down right terrible, hopefully Cecil can step up

great to see Burres sent down, what a piece of shit pitcher there

Toronto RHP Casey Jansen threw 37 pitches and three innings Monday in his first minor league rehab start with Class-A Dunedin. Jansen, who went on the disabled list March 27 with a sore right shoulder, allowed two hits, struck out three and walked two.

Casey Jansen throw 49 pitch's in Single A last night, looking towards a mid May return. I just saw it on the TV during the Jays game.

The arms may make it back in time to make the season's hot start keep going.

TSN 2 is showing the "Showdown in Beantown" as they have been calling it for this week.
But instead of the TSN crew (Rod Black, Pat Tabler), I get the NESN crew.

4 man rotation with Halladay leading Romero, Cecil, and Mark Rzecpzynski.
I know they have very few games back to back to back, and a lot of rest in the rest of July and August, but still. Tallet dies go to the bullpen and is avaliable for a start here and there.

Jays to drop Tallet from rotation and go with four starters

Jays are also in on the Sheets sweepstakes. They will be watching the throwing session.
